National Certificate in Road Transport

(Heavy Vehicle Driver-Level 3)

If you’ve ever thought about driving big truck and trailer units for a living and wondered where to start then this is the place.

Mainland Driving School and ARA Polytechnic have developed a Road Transport program designed to prepare students for a career in the road transport industry. The course is designed to give you as much practical experience as possible while learning the theory behind everything you do.

The program is 30 weeks in total with the first 7 weeks undertaking licensing(Class 2, F, DG endorsements) and practical training with Mainland Driving School.

Over the remaining 23 weeks you will be employed in a Class 2 driving role and attend fortnightly night classes. When you are eligible you will also obtain your Class 4 license.

We see this program as being the ideal mix of classroom and work-based training that will develop highly trained drivers who will be well prepared for a career in road transport.

Who can do this course?

To be eligible for the course you will need to have held you Class 1 full licence for at least 6 months and :

  • Be fit and healthy, capable of lifting heavy items when required
